Design Books to Read This Fall

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but fall is approaching faster than some of us might like, or wish. I love summer and we’ve enjoyed the best weather this past couple of months but we’ve been so busy feathering our nest that we didn’t feel August sneaking up on us. I love summer, yes I do, and although I do not like the thought of it ending anytime soon, we do have quite a few things to look forward to this fall. One of them is the design book launch season! Are you excited? So many great designers have new books coming out this fall that my Amazon cart is bursting! Here are some of my favorite new releases, available to pre-order, as well as a few seasoned ones that I’m coveting as well.

The Well Adorned Home: Making Luxury Livable, by Cathy Kincaid

And guess who else has a book coming out this fall! Tom Scheerer!! He keeps on decorating and we keep on being amazed by his work, a win-win.

More Decorating, by Tom Sheerer

Near and Far – Interiors I love, by Lisa Fine

At Home in the English Countryside – Designers and Their Dogs, by Susanna Salk

Americana – Farmhouses and Manors of Long Island, by Kyle Marshall

Australian Designers at Home, by Jenny Rose-Innes

California Cooking and Southern Style, by Frances Schultz

Design by Kitty Bartholomew

Thanks to this lovely country style dining room (above), I became interested in its designer, Kitty Bartholomew, and I’ve just ordered one of her books, Kitty Bartholomew’s Decorating Style. Looking forward to have a closer look at her work.

And last, inspired by this lovely home office, among other beautiful rooms done by the same designer, I’ve ordered Living Traditions- Interiors by Matthew Patrick Smyth.

Do you have any interesting design books (old or new) in your cart? Please feel free to share them with us! Have a great day!

You had me at “Farmhouses and Manors of Long Island”. An interesting focus. Kitty Bartholomew had a wonderful television show years ago. She is a delight and I loved the show.

Hi, Jean! Thank you!! I had no idea about Kitty Bartholomew until about a week ago… now I can’t wait to get her book. From what I’ve seen online, her style is very warm and colorful, and I’m in 🙂 xoxo, Eva

I remember Kitty Bartholomew from years ago, too!
I didn’t realize Frances Schultz was coming out with a new book — can’t wait for hers, and for some of the others you shared. Thanks for the round up!

I saw “Perfect English Townhouse”, by Ros Byam Shaw, used in a display at a housetour. Of course, I had to have it. I really love it.
Kitty Bartolomew was wonderful on HGTV. I bet her book is a great read.
Susanna Salk’s new one should be good. Her other book, “At Home with Dogs and their Designers” is one I own, and love.
And, it’s raining cats and dogs here, right now, so am going to read from both of mine, right now!

Hi, Gina! I’m with you on the Ros Byam-Shaw book, it’s a lovely read! My husband returned from a trip with Perfect English Cottage and it was the best gift ever…

I wasn’t familiar with Kitty Bartholomew’s work until recently, looking forward to receiving her book. Happy reading! xoxo, Eva
