Happy weekend, friends! It’s been a cold and rainy one here in Western Mass, but the change of temperature brings a welcome break from our normally busy weekend schedule. Our coziest blankets are out, the house smells of freshly baked apple pie, hot tea and honey, and we’re all curled up with our favorite books, enjoying the quiet, and the rain. Over the last couple of weeks I came across a few items on my virtual shopping sprees, and thought I’d share my favorites with you. They are an assorted bunch: a stunning English country home decorated by antiques dealer Max Rollit, a lovely beach house on the shores of Rhode Island, the former home of Max Sinsteden, a beautiful set of botanical prints, a metal drinks table (like the one that holds my coffee as I write), newly released design books, a cozy mystery by Anthony Horowitz on my nightstand, and more. I hope you see something you like!
A set of 6 framed botanical prints
A Victorian home in the English countryside decorated by antiquarian Max Rollit
A colorful Rhode Island beach house
A charming & versatile metal pedestal table
Magpie Murders, by Anthony Horowitz
From the New York Times bestselling author of Moriarty, this fiendishly brilliant, riveting thriller weaves a classic whodunit worthy of Agatha Christie into a chilling, ingeniously original modern-day mystery.
Our Way Home: Reimagining an American Farmhouse by Heide Hendricks and Rafe Churchill
Rafe and Heide discovered their true home in a late 1800s New England farmhouse after a decade of living in Brooklyn, New York. The historic property, Ellsworth, is a showplace for their shared aesthetic and sensibility of designing for real life, and not for formality. At the core is a house of pared-down traditionalism with references to Shaker tranquility, Arts & Crafts practicality, and bohemian chic. Whimsical wall coverings, striking colors, a mix of contemporary furniture and antiques, exciting works of art, and comfort abound—turning a workaday house from the nineteenth century into a creative laboratory of the twenty-first.
The Wager- A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder, by David Grann
The Wager is a grand tale of human behavior at the extremes told by one of our greatest nonfiction writers. Grann’s recreation of the hidden world on a British warship rivals the work of Patrick O’Brian, his portrayal of the castaways’ desperate straits stands up to the classics of survival writing such as The Endurance, and his account of the court martial has the savvy of a Scott Turow thriller. As always with Grann’s work, the incredible twists of the narrative hold the reader spellbound.
Memories of Home, by Heidi Callier
In her debut book, designer Heidi Caillier shows how to mix moody color with layers of pattern, natural materials, and textures to create spaces that are both beautifully curated and comfortably livable.
Wishing you a peaceful rest of your weekend!
I miss your old posts with the beautiful homes you featured. I wish you’d go back to that format.

Thank you for leaving a comment, Gail! I understand how you feel, but earlier this year I’ve decided to move away from that format. Magazine photography is copyrighted, and it is unethical to share images one does not have rights over. Design blogs have lived in a gray area for many years, and there are still plenty of blogs who do share images without copyrights. Occasionally, I will share a picture I do not own, but it is usually a fair use image from a press package, or a book cover.
