Happy unofficial start to summer, dear friends! I hope it’s a great one for you and your loved ones! Once again, life has gotten in the way, and I didn’t blog as often as I wanted to, despite the fact that I’ve missed you all and have many design projects to share with you. For one, I am done refinishing the dining chairs I talked to you about in my previous post. It was not an easy project – it took longer than anticipated, I made too many mistakes, and I felt like giving up a bunch of times, but I’ve also learned a lot in the process and I’ll be happy to tell you all about it. So, for those of you interested in upholstery, I’ll share my experience and the outcome in my next post. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, since Memorial Day Weekend is a perfect opportunity to resume our design chats, shop our favorite items and enjoy healthy discounts, I thought I’d put together a list of items I’ve been interested in lately, in case you’d like some inspiration.

The Impossible Fortune, by Richard Osman

I have been enjoying this series very much, and the Netflix adaption of Osman’s first novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was marvelous! Highly recommend for fun summer reading.

And on that note, I’m currently revisiting my absolute favorite writer, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and my goal for the summer is to re-read three of his timeless masterpieces:

The Brothers Karamazov

Crime and Punishment

The Idiot

If you’re interested, and would like to skip the library wait times, all three are on sale right now!

Living in a small college town, May becomes the season of hope and renewal, a time to celebrate academic accomplishments and the arrival of gentler, warmer days. This time of year I inevitably fall back in love with the town and its treasures, and my own garden. Trees and flowers and shrubs come alive, and so do I, and I happily resume my gardening shenanigans. What have YOU been up to?
