Summer Bedding Roundup

Twice a year, in early spring and late summer, I make it a habit to add to our ever-growing collection of bedding. I love the feel of crisp sheets and like to switch out the look of our beds often so I’m always on the lookout for timeless prints and colors to bring into our home. This time of year is great for finding some wonderful bedding on sale and since last week we talked a lot about pillows, today we’ll have a look at some great options available if you’re on the lookout for something pretty for the bedroom. Serena & Lily have really hit the spot this summer with their collection of shams, sheet sets and duvet covers, and most of them are now on sale. Below are some of my absolute favorites, although most of their things are really pretty and I had a hard time keeping this list contained:

1. Embroidered pillowcases, set of 2, available in several different embroidery colors:

2. The delicate seaweed pattern and embroidered detail make this sheet set a fabulous addition to any bed:

3. For a timeless look that could work well for adults and kids alike, these cabana striped sets are amazing:

4. French blue toile pillowcase for a romantic look:

…or decorative pillow covers:

5. One of my favorite sets from Serena & Lily’s collection of bedding this season is this scalloped edge duvet set:

The shams can be purchased separately, for a mixed-and-matched look:

A similar scalloped pattern can be found in Ballard Designs’ collection, which I purchased for my daughter’s room earlier this year:

6. A playful ruffle edge European sham:

…and matching sheet set:

7. A Cape Cod-inspired bedding bundle:

Apart from the pretty bedding, the things that really make a comfortable bed are the pillow and duvet inserts and here everyone’s needs are different. To avoid neck pain, I usually go for soft down, hypoallergenic pillow inserts that we then switch seasonally to spare their wear and tear. Again, everyone is different and for some foam inserts work best. Here are a couple of great options I’ve used over the years for soft, down feather pillow inserts:

This down feather + organic cotton pillow insert is one of my favorites:

Another great choice – hypoallergenic and dust mite-resistant cotton-covered pillows, set of 2:

For quality duvet inserts that won’t break the bank, TJ Maxx is my go-to source.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you what’s on my shopping list right now. I hope you found something pretty in today’s post. Have a lovely day!

P.S. On a completely unrelated topic: Is anyone else freaking out that Ross and Rachel might be dating IRL? Oh – my – God! As a die-hard Friends fan, I am losing it a little! 🙂

      Hi Beth,
Thanks for letting me know! It’s my bad, really. I wrote “pillow covers” but they are pillows with mite-resistant cotton covers. Thanks for catching me on that.
