Happy weekend, dear friends! After sharing a small before and after of our living room on Instagram, I received several questions regarding the roller shades I chose for our windows, so I thought I’d do a little post about them, in case you’re on the market for some lovely, yet inexpensive window treatments. The short of it is that they’re from Lowes, and I absolutely LOVE them. They were the product of my indecision, meant to be a temporary solution while I figured out the design plan for each room, but I ended up liking them so much that I’ve since bought one for every window in our home!

The roller shades are from Lowes’ Trim + Go LEVOLOR line of vinyl blinds and I particularly like their minimalist design and sleek, unobtrusive hardware. Although they are not perfect or high-end, they work well and look great as stand alone window treatments, or layered underneath curtains or outside mount roman shades for added privacy.

Beside their looks, the nice thing about these shades is that there are many options to choose from, depending on your needs and/or preference – light filtering, room darkening and blackout, all available in two colors – white or cream and they can be installed as an inside or as an outside mount. I chose the light filtering roller shades in cream because they cast a warm glow that blends seamlessly with the wall color in our family room, which started a chain reaction for the adjacent living room. For all our windows I opted for inside mount shades, while for the French doors I had no choice but to pick the outside mount.

When it comes to customizing, Lowes will cut the vinyl roller blinds to your desired width, at no additional cost.  Getting the widths right, especially for the inside mount, takes a bit of careful measuring, but the employees were very kind and helped me tweak my measurements in store.

For a seamless installation and best results, I recommend using the LEVOLOR hardware, which comes in the form of inside and outside mount brackets. Since my local Lowes was out of inside mount brackets, I ordered some from Amazon but they were not a good fit, so back they went. (For those of you who are interested, I’ll link everything at the end of this post.)

I definitely need to check these out at Lowes. I have 3 windows in our family room that would definitely benefit from these shades.
I love the color of your living room and the styling you have done to make the room so lovely. Can’t wait to see what your next project is on your list.

Your home is beautiful and cozy and comforting. I have stopped reading most home blogs because they tend to all look alike and often are way out of my budget.Your careful, thoughtful planning is admirable. Thank you for being a friendly “next door neighbor”!
