On the market for some beautiful bamboo shades? If you are, there’s a chance today’s post might interest you. Earlier this year, when I shared glimpses of our (then) newly painted family room, several of you reached out asking about the woven roller shades we used, and I felt bad for not being able to share them. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I wasn’t sure I loved them and therefore couldn’t recommend them wholeheartedly. They were pretty, they were affordable, and shipping was quick – all sensitive points as we were coming out of a pandemic – but they weren’t perfect. Some of the slats arrived chipped / broken and, although these imperfections didn’t bother me so much, I didn’t want to recommend them unless I truly loved them and knew you would too.
We lived with the roller shades for several months but I have since found a different room for them and decided to search for alternatives that offered privacy (rather than just light filtering), and that were not a hazard to Sammy – our soon-to-be-one-year-old nephew, should he visit with my brother-in-law and his wife. (Because aside from being our library / family room / home office – this tiny room is also our guest bedroom. Ridiculous, I know! 🙂 ) After a lot of research, I found some cordless bamboo roman shades (on Amazon of all places) that I’m completely enamored with and so, this time, I feel I can share the source with you wholeheartedly.
Here they are, installed… I love that they bring weight and so much warmth and texture to the room and that they pick up the color of our wooden furniture.
If you like the look and are on the market for similar shades, THESE are the ones we used:
They are lovely, sturdy and well made and you can customize the width & length so you get the best fit for your windows. Shipping was prompt (less than 2 weeks from placing the order) and installation was pretty straightforward. (I could do it by myself and I’m not that handy). The color I chose is a rich, mid-dark brown that goes well with the rest of the furnishings, and complements our home’s color palette. As with all shades and blinds, you have the option to do an inside or an outside mount. I went with an outside mount because our family room windows are tiny and I felt that the outside mount will create the illusion of wider windows. Anyway, just when you thought I was done talking about this room! 🙂
Wishing you a peaceful Fall weekend!
Perfection, love it, Eva!
All the best,

Are they lined?
So pretty. I need block out lining for sleeping babies.

Hi, Kate! I feel you!
Unfortunately these don’t come with blackout lining… However, the dark color paired with the tightly-woven slats make them intensely room darkening so they work very well for a bedroom, but perhaps not for nursery or a room where you’d want to make sure your babies can take naps at all times during the day.
Hope you find what you’re looking for!
