Like baking a good loaf of bread or a batch of fragrant chocolate chip cookies, learning with Create Academy can quickly become an addictive pastime. So far I have taken several of their courses, ranging in subject matter from interior design and gardening, to furniture painting, upholstery and curtain making, and I am always finding myself craving (and returning for) more. If you, too, enjoy homemaking and are passionate about improving your skills in that area and perhaps even learning new ones, you’ll be happy to know that Create Academy has recently introduced an annual membership option which allows anyone who’s a member unlimited access to all of their classes. The cost of a membership is less than the added cost of two distinct classes – a wonderful option for those of you who are interested in taking more than one class and exploring new creative outlets.
Create Academy launched five years ago with an online course taught by Rita Konig, called The Ultimate Guide to Interior Design. Dealing with the fundamentals of an interior design project exemplified on North Farm, Rita Konig’s farmhouse in county Durham, to this day it remains one of Create Academy’s most sought-after courses and, due to its overwhelming success, a second, more in-depth class by the world-renowned designer, filmed over two years, is scheduled to launch shortly – on April 23rd (!!!) to be exact.
Celebrating the launch, anyone who joins the Create Academy platform has the opportunity to win a 1-2-1 design consultation with Rita Konig. But the offer expires today, within the next six hours, so if you’re interested and haven’t registered already, hurry!
Needless to say, I am beyond thrilled about the launch, and the reasons are manifold. First of all, Rita’s natural ability to teach without patronizing, making you feel like you’re chatting with a good friend who also happens to have incredible taste and is willing to help you out of a design muddle, is such an irresistible way of learning a new skill. Second, this course promises to delve much deeper into the design process by walking us through two of Rita’s favorite professional projects from start to finish – the renovation of her London apartment, as well as a home many of us have come to adore – Deborah Needleman’s country house in upstate New York. (A side note: Deborah Needleman’s best-selling book, The Perfectly Imperfect Home, published more than a decade ago, remains to this day one of my favorite books on the subject of decorating, and one I highly recommend to anyone who loves the collected-over-time as opposed to the one-stop-shop approach to decorating.)
Rita Konig’s new course, The Advanced Guide to Interior Design, comes with 47 lessons, nine hours of instruction time and downloadable workbooks, and the opportunity to hang out with, and learn from, one of the most beloved interior designers of the moment. It promises to be one of the design highlights of this spring, and I am counting down the days until April 23rd. You can watch the course trailer HERE.
Hope to see you on Create Academy! Happy learning!
