Happy December, dear friends! I hope today’s post will offer you some design inspiration as well, not just a glimpse into the madness of my methods. When it comes to decorating, I tend to develop micro-obsessions – mostly about color and interior architectural details – and our living room fireplace has been a recurring thought in our renovation efforts. Our fireplace – I don’t think I’ve given this much attention to any other architectural change in our house so far. As little and as insignificant this may seem to most people (normal people), getting the fireplace mantel right has been very important to me.

Happy almost weekend, dear friends! I hope you’re well! This week has flown by, with a ton of good intentions on my part to write, yet few actual free moments of quiet solitude to gather my thoughts and share with you some fun happenings & things I’ve been contemplating for our home. A roaring fire on cold winter nights, deep, comfortable seating and the company of loved ones (four-legged sweethearts included) make life in a country cottage infinitely sweeter. A fireplace is a wonderful thing to have in a home and when it’s in the right spot, it often becomes the focal point of a room’s entire decorating scheme.

Hey, friends! Anyone still out there? I apologize for my silence last week… I meant to have a couple of stories out but we’re in the middle of a new & exciting project at our house and it’s all I can think about these days!!! Since we bought our cottage, some three + years ago, I’ve been looking for ways to make it look, feel & live a little bit larger than its tiny footprint, without ruining its cottage charms. Some of my ideas were sensible, others downright outrageous (we won’t talk about those). But slowly we made progress. We tweaked the floor plan to improve the flow between the rooms, and added windows & French doors wherever possible to bring in natural light and garden views.
