Tips for Reupholstering an Ottoman

Hi, friends! Do you remember that DIY project I was telling you about a couple of weeks ago? Well, I underestimated the amount of time it would take me to get it done, styled and shot (oops!) but it’s finally finished and I’m happy with the result, so I thought I’d share the process with you, in case you need some encouragement to do a little reupholstering of your own.

Current living situation: finds old and new, colors and patterns slowly making friends with each other, and a room that’s starting to look like home. See that new quilt on the sofa, barely making it into the pic? My favorite flea market find this month!

Love Letter to Home

Earlier this week, on June 28th to be exact, we celebrated four years since we moved into our home. Four years ago (and for many more weeks after that), our living room was filled with unopened boxes, excitement and renovation plans, and too many bits of furniture I’d strung along. Some all the way from California. Even now, as I write this, I cannot believe it’s been that long. It feels like only yesterday that I shared with you our home, and invited you all on our renovation journey. See our first post HERE.

Good morning, friends! I’m back, anyone still out there? 🙂 For today’s blog story, I wanted to tell you about a sumptuous new book by Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, called An Entertaining Life. Have you had a chance to look at it yet?  Published by Vendome last month, it landed on my coffee table almost by chance, and from there, straight onto my dream board. From London to Portofino to Casa de Campo, the book includes collected European interiors, stunning gardens, and elegant tablescapes that will inspire you to live not only an entertaining life, but a life with beauty and friendship and community at heart.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating with your loved ones today.  Thankfully, it’s been an easy couple of days at our house, compared to the madness of previous weeks. Quiet moments spent in the company of books and favorite movies, considerable amounts of watermelon and orange cake, cuddles with my favorite girl, and lots of thinking and coffee drinking and jazz.

The family room, on a good day 🙂

June Blooms

Happy Wednesday, dear friends!  It’s been a while… I hope you’re doing well! It’s the end of the school year here in Western Massachusetts and we’ve been busier than ever with school functions, recitals, dance performances, field trips, bake sales and, sadly, goodbye parties. Life has been filled with activity and I’ve been trying very hard to keep my head above the water. For the last few days we’ve had the joy of dog-sitting a gentle (and incredibly needy for affection) golden doodle and his company has brightened up my days.
