My Collaboration with The Inside

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you had a peaceful observance of Veteran’s Day! Thank you all for your sweet messages after Wednesday’s post, I appreciate your kind words and the encouragement! Today I wanted to share with you a recent project I worked on in collaboration with The Inside. For those of you who are not familiar with the company, The Inside is a creative platform that helps customers design tailored furniture at cookie-cutter prices, and with surprisingly short lead times. ( We all know how hard it’s been to get our furniture delivered during the pandemic so The Inside ‘s relatively short lead times – several weeks instead of several months – could not have come at a better time. )

For some time now I’ve been wanting to add extra seating in our little cottage and I focused my search on pieces that were versatile, hardworking but also pretty. Several of these items had long lead times so when The Inside reached out for a collaboration, I knew it was a good fit. Their selection of furniture is vast and can fit a variety of different decorating styles. While shopping their website, I was torn between their X-Bench (below) and their Skirted Storage Ottoman but because space is at a premium at our house and I welcome every bit of storage I can get, the Skirted Storage Ottoman won.

The skirted storage ottoman is not only a timeless piece and a favorite of design icon Billy Baldwin, but it is also versatile and hardworking and has an ample storage cubby under the seat. The seat is large enough to sit comfortably, and it can also hold a large tray with refreshments when you’re entertaining.

With 100+ high-end fabrics to choose from, I very quickly landed on Shibori – a reproduction of an antique Japanese tie-dye pattern that is subtle and geometric, and goes with everything! In about 4 weeks my piece arrived and we absolutely love it! My daughter’s toys and nicknacks, which inevitably spill into our main living areas, can easily be cleared away in the storage compartment and we now have a get-out-of-jail card for easy clean-up and extra seating when company arrives!

The sofa table in our living room doubles as homework station 🙂

So, if you’re on the market for something fun to prepare for the holiday season this year, The Inside is a great destination for shopping customizable upholstery and wallpaper. And the good news is that for any purchase of $199+ you’ll get a $50 discount with promo code CAFE50.

Happy Decorating!

Eva – Could you speak about the quality of the material, upholstery job and final product?

    Thanks, KatieMorene

      Hi Katie,
Thanks for your interest in my new ottoman! The process of working with The Inside is very simple: you find a piece you like, you order swatches of possible fabrics and then once the order is final, your piece will be customized and delivered within the stated timeframe. The upholstery job is of good quality, as expected. With respect to the fabric, mine is a cotton + linen blend. I ordered several $1 swatches from their website which I then compared to my existing decor to find the winner 🙂

      Hope this helps!
      xo, Eva
