With our cross-country move this past summer, I decided to start our home décor with a clean slate. Motivated partly by the high costs of moving, partly by the fact that we had outgrown in taste and style most of our things, we sold almost all our furnishings before the move. Once in Amherst, we found a bright and modern apartment in a great neighborhood and I began to slowly cozy it up. Some of our purchases were new but for the details I relied on treasures I (im)patiently searched for.
It is a temporary home so things had to stay within a reasonable budget. Craigslist, eBay and local antiques shops (thankfully there are many around) became my best friends. I collected things over time and regularly scoured Etsy and flea markets for pretty trinkets. A kantha quilt had been on my wishlist for a long time but I was hesitant to commit to a purchase. A few weeks after our move I came across Ambrai India. With attractive designs at affordable prices, I liked that their textiles are 100% cotton and hand-made using only natural dyes so, after reading their reviews, I felt confident and ordered one of their pretty quilts. I was so happy with my purchase that I asked them if they’d be interested in being featured on Café Design. The result of that collaboration was a post offering readers a 10% discount on any of their products.
That was at the end of summer. Recently, I got another quilt from them that I’m equally crazy about and would love to show you. It’s a soft blue and white with an aqua border, and it goes with everything in our place! I started using it as a sofa throw but it can easily makeshift as a bed cover, depending on size. Ours is 90”x108” so it fits both king and queen-size beds. Since our sofa has an off-white slipcover, I like to play with pillows and blankets to add a bit of color and pattern. Throws can also extend the life of slipcovers and upholstery, plus they’re fun to switch out with the changing seasons for a new look. Win-win!
In case you like this quilt, you’ll be glad to hear that Ambrai India is generously offering Café Design readers another 10% discount on any purchase between now and January 31st, 2019! Just use the promo code AMBRAIHOLIDAYS before check-out. I also got this stole (pictured below) for my mom and she loves it! It is unfortunately no longer available but they still have a beautiful selection and new items are added periodically.
If you love Indian block prints as much as I do, and are looking for a thoughtful gift, I know you’ll enjoy browsing Ambrai India‘s Etsy shop. Here are some of my favorite items available right now:
{I love the warm and earthy tones of these graphic pillows.}
{These mustard yellow pillows
would look great in our living room. }
{This warm plaid blanket is as timeless as it is pretty.}
{I think this pretty diminutive block print would be great on lampshades.}
{I have my eyes set on this fresh and fun quilt.}
I trust you have enjoyed this peek into Ambrai India‘s beautiful selection of textiles, hopefully there’s something in their shop with your name on it! 🙂 Please follow them on Instagram at @ambraiindia for daily inspiration and info on their beautiful products.
