With so many design books being released this Fall, we have a great opportunity to expand our design sensibilities and enrich our home libraries! If you’re interested in what’s out there, in the following weeks I will be sharing more reviews here on the blog but for now, I thought we’d have a sneak peek into a volume scheduled to launch next week that I think you will very much enjoy – Pietro Cicognani: Architecture and Design.
Italian-born architect Pietro Cicognani’s first book comes out October 6th and it is exquisite! You may be familiar with his firm, Cicognani Kalla, and their work on a home that became viral in the design world several years ago: Woody House, on Long Island’s East End.
With a body of work spanning three decades, Pietro Cicognani has become known for his highly customized and exceptionally beautiful projects: country houses, city apartments, barn conversions and pool houses, even garden plans for an A-list clientele, and this volume showcases some of his best work. Whether a new construction or a gut renovation, each project is the result of many collaborative efforts. Artisans, craftspeople, and exceptional interior designers poll their talents into homes that inspire and uplift.
And while their style may vary greatly, they share a unique and personal point of view and an undeniable respect for the timeless laws of scale and proportion. As you’ll see through the book, even the more modern projects permeate that love of classical architecture that is at the foundation of Cicognani’s work.
All in all, I have found this book tremendously inspiring and know it will be a cherished part of my design library for years to come. For those of you interested in purchasing the book, Pietro Cicognani: Architecture and Design, written by Karen Bruno and photographed by Francesco Lagnese, is available to pre-order on Amazon.
Take care!

Thanks, Karen! Glad you found this book
intriguing! xo, Eva
Wow, this is a very different house than many of those on the East End of Long Island. My favorite rooms were the kitchen and the Gustavian sitting room.
Thanks for featuring the work of this most talented designer!

Thanks, Diana! Woody House is something special for sure, and I am guessing one of a kind on Long Island. It is grand but it also has charm and whimsy… One of the best homes in this book, for me! xo, Eva
