Bits of Life

Today we’re having the third snow day of the season in Western Mass and our daughter couldn’t be happier! She’s not the only one, this mama is happy too!  Although we spent the better part of the morning shoveling snow out of our driveway, our house never looked this charming! Isn’t it funny how snow is like frosting on a cake? Makes everything pretty, and the cold temps bearable. I hope it’s snowing where you are…

We also managed to fix our guardian bunny (on the steps, in the image above) after an unfortunate shoveling incident a few weeks ago left bunny without one of its ears. Honestly, we’re running out of ways to glue it back together but hopefully no more breaking bunny for a while. The previous owners of our house, sweet Heinz and Linda, left us a few animal figurines around the yard guarding flower shrubs they’d planted with their grandchildren and I found them too darling to let them go. So they’ll be staying put, hopefully in one piece, for a really long time…

On a different note, my mom’s arrival precipitated many projects around the house that I’ve been procrastinating on. Her energy is contagious and gave me the push I needed to finish up a few loose ends (there are many, believe me) around our new house. Like sanding and painting the living room French doors as well as the last of the living room window trim, or cleaning & organizing our garage (still work in progress) and ordering fabric and wallpaper samples for our living room scheme. We might never let her leave! It has been a blessing to see her and Isabella play and have so much fun together and having her here made us realize how much easier life would be if we’d live closer. Who knows, maybe one day… In the meantime I’m enjoying every minute I have with her and if that means I’m going to miss a blog post or two, I hope you’ll understand and won’t mind.

I also managed to sneak in a few mommy-and-baby moments and had fun with my little one the other day. Every week we try to get some special moments in just the two of us and bond over a hot cup of chocolate or a cheese-cream-cheese-bagel, our favorite. Acting silly and having lots of giggles with my girl is my medicine 🙂

And that’s about as much as I can write today. I’m off to get extra pairs of gloves and a pair of snow pants for myself. I finally caved and decided to embrace living in New England and own a cozy pair, as unflattering as those snow pants can be! I’ll be back soon to share detailed plans for our living room and dining room. Stay warm!
