If you have south-facing windows framed by stationary shutters, the non-operable kind that are screwed into the siding of your home, then you, too, might be curious to see what’s hiding behind them. Or not, depending on how brave you are 🙂

Happy October, dear friends! I hope you’re well, happy and healthy, and enjoying the gentle change of seasons. Despite the gorgeous weather we’ve been having lately, I spent the better part of last weekend cooped up indoors, decluttering our home (and making a big mess in the process). Every year around this time I get an overwhelming desire to simplify our life and our schedule, and decluttering our home is a big part of the process. Do you feel that way too?

Happy weekend, friends! It’s been a cold and rainy one here in Western Mass, but the change of temperature brings a welcome break from our normally busy weekend schedule. Our coziest blankets are out, the house smells of freshly baked apple pie, hot tea and honey, and we’re all curled up with our favorite books, enjoying the quiet, and the rain. Over the last couple of weeks I came across a few items on my virtual shopping sprees, and thought I’d share my favorites with you. They are an assorted bunch: a stunning English country home decorated by antiques dealer Max Rollit, a lovely beach house on the shores of Rhode Island, the former home of Max Sinsteden, a beautiful set of botanical prints, a metal drinks table (like the one that holds my coffee as I write), newly released design books, a cozy mystery by Anthony Horowitz on my nightstand, and more. I hope you see something you like!
Happy Friday, dear friends! In case you missed it on social media, I have a wonderful piece of news to share with you: Earlier this week, my Insta pal, Katie Taylor Armour, of the blog Katie Considers, launched Trudie, an online shop with a delightful take on American Country style. Inspired by the nostalgia for a slower pace of living and the charm of American country style, Trudie reimagines classic homewares in a playful and colorful new light. The brand’s first collection launched on September 12 and contains a variety of hand crafted home essentials, made with organic textiles that are 100% free of harmful chemicals. From ruffled napkins to hand-quilted patchwork throws in fresh prints and cheerful color combinations, Shop Trudie answers a need in the market for items that are rooted in the past, yet modern in the way they are designed, produced and marketed. Enjoy 10% OFF your first order by joining Truly Trudie.

Happy almost weekend, dear friends! I hope you’re well! This week has flown by, with a ton of good intentions on my part to write, yet few actual free moments of quiet solitude to gather my thoughts and share with you some fun happenings & things I’ve been contemplating for our home. Several of you have asked to see the painted fireplace as it sits in the living room, surrounded by furniture and nicknacks, and since you’ve asked so nicely, here it is:
